From "EAT WHAT YOU LOVE"
These get 4 stars. They are easy to make and delicious while being much healthier at
the same time.
It's low in fat and very tasty. You can substitute turkey for beef, or use 1/2 pound of each.
INGREDIENTS:
Dice onion bell pepper and celery
Brown turkey and or
Lean ground beef with
(I used a pound of each so I would have plenty for later)
onion, green pepper and celery
Once browned, add flour
Dr Pepper
Vinegar
Worcestershire sauce
Add ketchup with a pinch of salt
Simmer for 10-20 minutes
I warmed my bun in the oven
Put on bun
Enjoy!!
RECIPE:
Ingredients |
1 lb | lean ground turkey (or half turkey & half beef) |
1/2 c | onion (diced) |
1 sm | bell pepper (diced) |
2 tsp | all purpose flour |
3/4 c | dr pepper (or cola) i use diet pepsi |
1/2 c | low sugar ketchup (regular is fine to) |
1 Tbsp | vinegar |
1 Tbsp | worcestershire sauce |
pinch of salt | |
6 | whole wheat hamburger buns |
Directions
In a medium skillet over medium heat, brown the turkey with the onion, & bell pepper. (drain)
add the remaining ingredients mix thoroughly. reduce the heat, & simmer for 15 to 20 minutes until thickened.
serve a scant 1/4 cup on each bun.
