Bamboo Growth Spurt!! WOW!

I thought my bamboo had really slowed down so I fertilized it again ,  (I fertilized it once last year and it really took off)and waited. I used out of the same bag I had from last year. Nothing seemed to be happening. Don thought maybe the bag had gone bad so I got a new bag  and fertilized it again. At the time we left on our vacation, I was a little disappointed that  it happened taken off again .

WOW!!!

When we got back from our two week vacation, I was shocked. My blue bamboo grew to a shocking height while we were gone. Don thinks the tree is 25 to 30 feet tall and my bamboo is almost at the top of it.

I am amazed by all the new growth. We will have complete privacy by next summer. You will never know there are 3 houses on the other side of this. That was the reason I planted this bamboo in the first place.

Here is what it looked liked when I first planted the bamboo.  Loved the house but not the lack of privacy in our pool area. Needed something that would grow really tall so I chose bamboo. Not only does it get really tall, but it also grows extremely fast. Love it!

The center where there isn't anything is where I planted my blue bamboo. My bird Noah is buried there and needed something extra special to go in

there. Blue bamboo is the fastest growing bamboo there is. Noah would approve of its height. He always wanted to be at the very top of anything he was on. I miss him so much.

Can't wait until next summer too see where this is at by then.

New Bamboo Everywhere!

I went out again this morning to tie back some of the bamboo and now there are new shoots all
over the place. So excited it is doing so great. That fertilizer is working great.

New shoots all up and down the roll, they are everywhere.

This is one half of it. It has gotten so thick and dark green. Its so pretty when the wind blows.  I just love it.

Day 4 Memorial Day!

First thing we did was get the bamboo by the side fence planted. We were just so tired last night.

Then I made breakfast while Don got in the pool.

He actually ate his breakfast in

Day 3 Memorial Weekend!

We went out early and cut the bamboo up. Don used his saw on it. That was a
much bigger job than we thought it would be,

Day 1 of 4 Memorial Weekend!

Don had a 4 day weekend so we decided to just stay home and get some stuff done that we had been wanting to do.

Friday was a great day to shop.

We went to find 2 more graceful bamboo for the middle that I had left open thinking I was

It Survived!!!

IT HAS SURVIVED!!!

My bamboo that I planted days before the first deep freeze has survived ALL the freezes of this nasty winter we had here in Texas.

It's a little yellow and a little dry but still most of it is still green. Woo- Hoo!!  It is doing great.

So today I decided to help it along by fertilizing it with

Since Bamboo is in the grass family, this makes sense to me.  It's also Kid and Pet Friendly. A big plus.

I sprinkled about 3/4 of a cup around each plant

Then I watered it really well

I cut off the stalks that were leaning out to far.

Now I will sit back and watch it grow. Can't wait for it to take off.
