Some Texas gun laws!

We spent Saturday at

for a Concealed Handgun License Class.  We sat in there for 12

hours. Long day but we will soon have our Texas CHL.

I didn't need it because I have my CHL from Florida which is honored in Texas.

But I am glad I went. Wow! I learned so much about Texas Law.

The written test had 50 questions. I got 49 right and Don got 48 right.

You had to shoot 50 rounds of ammo the way they told you to at 3 different distances. The highest score you could get was 250.

You had to shoot at least a 175.  I was thrilled with my score of 240 and Don missed a perfect score of 250 by 2 points. He scored 248.

Did you know that in the state of Texas, you can shoot an intruder on your neighbor's property if your neighbor has granted you permission to protect their home.

Did you know that in the state of Texas, if you carry a weapon, and it can be seen at all (brandished), you can go to jail. If you sit your purse down, and someone can see your gun at all,  you can go to jail.
It must be completely concealed at ALL times.

Did you know that in the state of Texas,  if your blood alcohol is >0 you must have your gun unloaded and in the trunk or behind the seat of a pickup. Zero tolerance.

Did you know that in the state of Texas, If you shoot someone in your house, you should call 911, tell them you need an ambulance, your name, address, what you are wearing, and what part of the house you are in, and that there has been a shooting. Then tell them anything to get off the phone, immediately, but DO NOT HANG THE PHONE UP, they will just call back.

You do not want to talk to 911 at all other than to give them the information I already told you. Do not tell them you shot anyone at all.

Did you know that in Texas, the police DO NOT have to read you your miranda rights anymore.

You MUST AND SHOULD immediately tell them you are invoking your right to keep silent until you talk to your attorney. Tell them NOTHING!!  If YOU do not invoke your rights yourself, anything and everything you say can and and will be used against you. INVOKE YOUR RIGHTS IMMEDIATELY!!!!

Did you know that in the state of Texas you can shoot your intruder and empty one full clip on them, but you are not allowed to put another clip in and continue.

REALLY!  If I empty my 9mm on someone, that's 15 rounds, Really, I don't think I would be needing another clip to shoot them again.  Duh!!!  (Just make sure you have a full clip in the gun and not just one or two shells when you might need more. You can't reload and use that second clip. Get him the first time)

Did you know in the state of Texas, you are allowed to protect your dog with your gun anywhere but

not your cat. True!

Did you know that in the state of Texas if you have your CHL license, with SA(semi-automatic) on it you can carry a revolver.
f your CHL does not have the letters SA on it, you can ONLY carry a revolver.

THESE ARE ONLY MY UNDERSTANDING OF TEXAS GUN LAW AND ARE FOR ENTERTAINMENT PURPOSES ONLY. REFER TO TEXAS STATE LAW FOR DETAILS.
