DC Final Day,shootings, Holocaust, Good-Byes!

Monday Sept 16th, I woke up early but wanted to let her sleep. I got dressed and went downstairs and had breakfast. While there I saw the news where some nut was on the

Navy Base shooting people. They shut the planes at the airport down, so we were concerned about Laci’s flight. They were shut down for 2 hours but both our flights were running on schedule. I went back up to the room, jumped on

My Never Ending Love Letter To My Daughter, Laci!

Laci,  this letter is long and pretty random. I just wrote things as I thought of them. This is in no certain order. Just memories I always want you to have. I am sure by the time I hit send, I will remember something else that I should have said, and I am sure I will continue to think of things I should have said so this letter will never truly

Sunday, Sept 15th. We got up and got ready. We headed to the Metro

to go to the mall. We were going to just run in and grab a couple things and back out. But when we got there, it was a 4 story mall.

It would have just been wrong not to check it out. We went

DC, 1st Day, IJM, Birthday, Chocolate!

Our first day in Washington, DC.  I flew in and took a taxi straight to IJM headquarters.

Laci said they told her if I wanted to come to  their last get together, I was welcome. I was so thankful I was able to get off the plane and get to her in time.

Friday Letters!

Dear Laci,
I loved our time in Washington together. It ended way too soon. I am so happy that you are safely in Ireland and are loving it. I know there is so much to take in but you can do it. Good Luck. I am so happy that we are able to facebook at night. I loved Skyping with you. Lets try and do that more often. :).

Dear Kisha,
I love you and miss our conversations. Hope we can get some started back up soon. I am in love with your little off colored kitten. Are you selling him or her? Is it a male or female? I am very interested in that one. :)

Dear Paco,
If you followed Laci to Ireland, you need to come back to the states right away. She is going to have enough trouble with the Leprechauns messing with her. She really doesn't need you there right now.

Dear Don,
So glad to be back home and heading back to the gym with you.  I love getting back in shape.

Dear Hours in the day,
Slow down. You move way too fast.

Dear Duck Dynasty,
I can't believe how much I am enjoying your show. But I am. Keep up the great work.

Friday Letters!

Dear Precious Heavenly Father,
I lift up my daughter to Your throne of grace. Father, please protect Laci in her travels. May she arrive safely at her destination in Ireland. May the IJM staff find favor with her. Please surround her with Your peace and Your amazing love. Give her a spirit of calm. For we know that You want the best for her. Blessed be the Name of our Lord, Jesus. We thank You and we praise You. In Jesus mighty name, Amen.

    Dear Laci,
I am so happy to be in Washington with you this weekend. It is going to be so hard to let you go on Monday.  I hope you have an amazing time in Ireland. Hurry back for Christmas break. I will meet you in Florida. I love you and I am only a phone call away. If you need anything, call me. If you don't need anything, call me. When you are lonely, call me. When you think I might be lonely, call me. I think you are getting what I am saying. CALL ME......I love you. So much. Be super safe.

    Dear Kisha,
I hope you, Scott and Jackson can make it to Florida this Christmas. I would love to be able to spent Christmas with both my girls. That would be awesome. I miss you and I miss our late night talks. I know you are going to bed a lot earlier because of Jackson's school hours, but I do miss you very much. Thank you for helping Laci get her new blog set up. It looks great. I love you. CALL me!!!

    Dear Jackson,
We miss you. Don says you never call him anymore. Hello, or me. I love hearing your sweet voice on the phone. Call when you get time. I know you are a busy boy. I hope to see you at Christmas. I love you.

    Dear Brittany,
I miss you, sweetheart. I don't know when I am going to be able to get back to Indiana to see you. I hope school is going well for you this year. We will talk this week. I love you.

    Dear Don,
Enjoy your weekend. Be safe on the bike. Please try to brush Sammy once or twice. Enjoy the gym. I will see you on Monday. I love you.

    Dear Sammy,
I will miss you this weekend. I think you will be better staying with Don instead of running around Washington with Laci and I. Enjoy the motorcycle, but be safe. Be a sweet baby while I am gone. I will see you Monday at the airport. I love you very much .

    Dear Carrie,
Thank you so much for taking such awesome care of my daughter during her time in Washington. You are so much appreciated. Come to Texas and visit anytime. It was so nice meeting you.

    Dear Kelsee
It was so great meeting you. Have a safe trip to England. Good luck with your internship. I know you will be great our  there.  Stay safe.

    Dear Pilot of Laci's plane,
Please get lots of rest and stay alert flying her to Ireland. Please keep you and the plane safe. Our prayers are with you.

    Dear Belfast,
Please, please, please keep my daughter safe during her time with you. Let her learn all the things she needs to learn, but also to enjoy her time off and see the sights.

    Poor Poor Baby!!! Horribly Sad!

This is why I groom Sammy myself!!!

My heart is breaking for this couple. OMG!

    Horrible!   So Sad!

DOG GROOMER THROWS MALTESE AGAINST WALL, KILLING IT

A Missouri dog groomer threw a 3-year-old Maltese dog against a wall last Wednesday, causing fatal injures, according to the New York Daily News. The dog's owners, Barbara and Bill Calhoun, have been left emotionally devastated and furious following their pet's death.

"She literally murdered our little baby," said Barbara Calhoun, 71. "I know that she's not a child, but to us she was a child. She didn't deserve anything like that."

The Calhouns brought their dog, Darby, to Spring Valley Veterinary Hospital on Wednesday morning for a grooming session with a groomer the dog had seen twice before. Barbara Calhoun said the vet called later that day and reported Darby had been severely injured, suffering bruises, pulmonary contusions and pulmonary bleeding.

The couple did not learn what caused Darby's injuries until they arrived at the hospital. "I said, 'What happened? What happened?' and the doctor said, 'Well, she was thrown against the wall,'" Barbara Calhoun told KSPR.

The groomer, Rebecca Barbara, claimed the 8-pound dog attacked and bit her, and that she thus feared for her life. "I don't know exactly what happened but she tossed the dog away, evidently with enough force to cause some pretty severe injuries," said Dr. Ted Betzen of Spring Valley Veterinary Hospital.

Barbara Calhoun said she saw no bite marks on the groomer, but hospital staff has said they were there.

Darby was still alive when the Calhouns arrived at the hospital. They petted and kissed their dog, who seemed to recognize them. Darby succumbed to her injuries shortly after that.

The Calhouns said they haven't been able to eat or sleep since Darby's death. "Our dog was the most precious thing to us," Barbara Calhoun said. "We have no children ... she was such a sweet baby that she never did anything wrong."
The groomer has been fired, although Dr. Betzen said that she, like everyone else at the hospital, is devastated by what happened, and regrets Darby's death deeply.

The Calhouns said they will pursue legal action against Spring Valley Veterinary Hospital.

    She's On Her Way!

    Laci

    is in Washington.

She is there for a week before she flies off to Ireland,

to do her internship with IJM.

I am heading up there to spend the last few days she will be in the states with her.

I already miss her so much.

It's just so hard to let her go off to another country where she knows no one and to be so very far away from her.

I feel a sadness coming on that I keep trying to push away

. I am going to worry so much about her.

But I know she has to do this. And I couldn't be more proud of her.

    Thank God for Skype.

She still needs your help. Please pray for her and if you can donate even a dollar, every dollar counts. Here's her story if you haven't read it. Click below her photo on the right and it will open up to where her story is.

    Friday Letters!

    Dear Laci,
I can't wait to see you in Washington next week. I am going to worry so much about you while you are away in Ireland for 10 months. Will be counting the days until you come home for Christmas. I love you and I am so very proud of you. Go make a difference. Go save precious lives.

    Dear Sammy,
I am sorry you think I am being mean to you. I think you need to lose about 2 pounds and also, I just need to find out what is causing your allergies if I can. I will start adding some goodies back in for you in a week or two. I love you and just want to keep you healthy and well. I know how much you enjoy your evening walks and we are trying to make them a little longer for you.

    Dear Don,
Awesome job at the gym. You have already lost over 13 pounds. I know how much you love your nap after work, and I am so proud of you for meeting me at the gym and missing out on your naps. You say you feel so much better so keep up that swimming. You look great. Also, great job on only drinking a couple of beers one day a week. That will really help you keep the weight off. Sammy and I love you.

    Dear Kisha,
I know you have had so much going on lately, but I really miss our talks. Maybe we can try to get a little of that back soon. :) I miss you and love you. I hope we can all meet up in Florida at Christmas this year.

    Dear House,
I don't know why you aren't selling. It's not because we aren't getting offers because we are. Just something always happens to make it fall through. I guess we just aren't supposed to move at this time which is fine. When you are supposed to sell, you will.

    Dear Washington,
I can't wait to see you next week. Please have nice weather for us while we are there.

    Dear Ireland,
Please, please, please watch over my daughter for the next 10 months. Keep her safe from harm.

I can't wait to get over there and meet the fairies and the wee little leprechauns. And I know we are going to kiss the blarney stone. So excited we are coming over to visit Laci while she is there. :)

    Blogtember Friday, Sept 6

Friday, September 6: A story about a time you were very afraid

When I was home alone one evening when Laci was little.

Laci was staying at a friend's house which very rarely happened, and her dad was working out of town.  When I am home alone, I always keep the doors locked, including my bedroom door.

If it was just Laci and I at home, I always kept her in my room with me so if anything happened, I would know where she was at.

It was getting pretty late and I was in my bedroom reading a book and talking on the phone with Laci's dad. Then all of a sudden, the bedroom doorknob turned.

Thank God the door was locked. I completely turned to rubber. I was froze.

I was whispering in the phone that someone was trying to open the door. He told me to go to the closet and get the shotgun and pull the barrel back and get ready to use it.

I did as he said, and there is no other sound like a shotgun being ready to be used in the still of the night. I pulled that barrel back as he tried the door again. I yelled, "touch it again and I will blow that door away."

Kess hung up and called the police for me

and called the neighbor. I couldn't open the door to go out, because I was afraid he was still in there. The police came quickly

and they found the door in the garage pried open and they came in. He was gone. I guess the shotgun scared him off.

One of the officers went into the bedroom, where I had laid the shotgun at the foot of the bed. He told the other officer, "Good for her, I wouldn't want to break in this house."

Thank God I had the door locked, and Thank God I had a gun. And yes, I would have shot it.

So I would say he was very lucky, but then so was I. Who knows what would have happened had my bedroom door been unlocked. I have thought of that often.

    Blogtember Thursday, Sept 5

I saw this on my daughter's blog, http://www.kjaggers.com/ this morning and thought it looked like a fun thing to do, so I am joining up with http://storyofmylifetheblog.blogspot.com/ for the rest of the month.

Thursday, September 5: Pass on some useful advice or information you learned and always remembered:

If I could give everyone, one piece of advice, it would have to be - Never back up a vehicle any further than you absolutely have too. This would stop a lot of accidents.

Another piece of advice my precious grandmother always said was, "Never easedrop, You will never hear anything good about yourself. "

Always treat others the same way you would want to be treated.

    Love unconditionally and regardless!
